487 — Al-Firyābī informed us, saying: Ishāq ibn Mūsā al-Ansārī narrated to us, saying: Al-Hasan ibn Mūsā al-Bazzār narrated to us, saying: Abū Mawdūd narrated to us that Muhammad ibn Kaʿb said to them:

“Do not dispute with these Qadariyyah or sit in their company. By Him in whose hand is my soul, no man whom Allah has endowed with neither understanding of His religion nor knowledge of His Book sits with them without their making him sick. By Him in whose hand is Muhammad’s soul, I would gladly have this right hand of mine cut off at my advanced age if only they would take even a single verse from the Book of Allah Most High in full. Instead, they take its beginning and abandon its end, or take its end and abandon its beginning. By Him in whose hand is my soul, Iblīs knows Allah Most High better than they do: he knows who led him astray, whereas they claim that they lead themselves astray and guide themselves.”
