480 – Al-Firyābī informed us, saying: Abū Bakr ibn Abī Shayba narrated to us, saying: Abū Usāma narrated to us, from Sufyān, from Ibn Jurayj, from Zayd ibn Aslam, regarding the verse: “I did not create the jinn and humankind except to worship Me” [al-Dhāriyāt: 56]. He said: “This belongs to what they were innately fashioned for—wretchedness or felicity.”
