478 — Al-Firyābī informed us, saying: Muhammad ibn Ubayd ibn Hisāb narrated to us, saying: Hammād ibn Zayd narrated to us, saying: Habīb ibn al-Shahīd narrated to us, saying: I heard Iyās ibn Muāwiya say, “I never employed the full force of my reason in debating any followers of whims and desires except the Qadarites. I asked them, ‘Tell me: what does injustice mean in the language of the Arabs?’ They replied, ‘It is for a man to take what does not belong to him.’ I said, ‘Yet everything belongs to Allah, Mighty and Majestic.’”
