460 — Al-Firyābī informed us, saying: Abū Umayyah al-Wāsitī told me, saying: Yazīd ibn Hārūn narrated to us, saying: Mubārak narrated to us from al-Hasan, concerning the words of the Exalted: “Had your Lord willed, He would have made mankind one community” [Hūd 11:118]. He said, “United upon guidance.” “Yet they will continue ⦗881⦘ to differ, except those upon whom your Lord has mercy” [Hūd 11:119]. He said, “Those who receive Allah’s mercy do not differ.” “And for that He created them.” He said, “He created them to differ.”
