420 — Abū Bakr ibn Abī Dāwūd narrated to us, saying: Muhammad ibn Wazīr al-Wāsitī narrated to us, saying: Nūh ibn Qays al-Tāhī narrated to us, from Salāma al-Kindī, who said:
ʿAlī, may Allah be pleased with him, would teach the people how to invoke blessings upon the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. He would say, “Say: O Allah, Spreader of the outspread earths, Creator of the raised heavens, and Establisher of hearts upon their innate dispositions, whether wretched or blessed: bestow upon Muhammad, Your servant and Messenger, the choicest of Your blessings, Your ever-increasing benedictions, and the tender mercy of Your compassion.” He then related the hadith in full.
Abū al-Hasan ʿAlī ibn Ishāq ibn Zātyā also informed us, saying: Muhammad ibn Wazīr al-Wāsitī narrated to us, saying: Nūh ibn Qays narrated to us, and he related the same hadith with its chain of transmission.
