350 — Al-Firyābī informed us, saying: Minjāb ibn al-Hārith narrated to us, saying: Ibn Mushir informed us, from al-Aʿmash, from Abū Zabyān, from Ibn ʿAbbās, who said:

“The first thing Allah, Mighty and Majestic, created was the Pen. He said, ‘Write.’ It asked, ‘My Lord, what shall I write?’ He replied, ‘Write the decree.’ The Pen then ran, recording all that would occur from then until the Hour arose. His Throne was upon the water. He then caused vapor to rise from the water, and from it the heavens were rent open. He then created Nūn, and the earth was spread out upon Nūn’s back. Nūn moved, causing the earth to sway, so it was made firm by the mountains. Indeed, the mountains ⦗770⦘ boast over the earth.”
