330 – Al-Firyābī informed us, saying: Amr ibn Uthmān ibn Kathīr ibn Dīnār al-Himsī narrated to us, saying: Baqiyya—that is, Ibn al-Walīd—narrated to us, saying: Al-Zubaydī narrated to us, saying ⦗749⦘: Rāshid ibn Sad narrated to us, from Abd al-Rahmān ibn Qatāda al-Nasrī, from Hishām ibn Hakīm, that a man came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and asked, “O Messenger of Allah, are deeds initiated anew, or has the decree already been ordained?”

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, “Allah Most High took Adam’s descendants from their loins and made them bear witness against themselves. Then He spread them out in His palm and said ⦗750⦘, ‘These are for Paradise, and these are for the Fire.’ The people of Paradise are facilitated toward the deeds of the people of Paradise, while the people of the Fire are facilitated toward the deeds of the people of the Fire.”
