317 — Al-Firyābī informed us, saying: Abū Anas Mālik ibn Sulaymān narrated to us, saying: Baqiyya—that is, Ibn al-Walīd—narrated to us, from Mubashshir ibn Ubayd, from Atā ibn al-Sāib, from Abū Sālih, from Ibn Abbās, concerning the words of Allah Most High, “Just as He originated you, so shall you return: one group He guided, while another group deserved to be in error” [al-Arāf: 30]: “Thus He created them when He created them, making some believers and others disbelievers, some blessed and others wretched. Likewise, on the Day of Resurrection they will return, some rightly guided and others astray.”
