313 — Al-Firyābī informed us, saying: Abū Bakr ibn Abī Shaybah narrated to us, saying: Ismā'īl ibn Ulayyah narrated to us, from Mansūr ibn Abd al-Rahmān, who said: I asked al-Hasan about the words of Allah Most High ⦗720⦘: “Yet they will continue to differ, except those upon whom your Lord has mercy—and for that He created them.” [Hūd: 119] He replied: “Those upon whom your Lord has mercy do not differ.” I asked: “And for that He created them?” He replied: “Yes. He created these for Paradise and those for the Fire; He created these for mercy and those for punishment.”
