32 — Abū Bakr Abd Allāh ibn Muhammad ibn Abd al-Hamīd al-Wāsitī narrated to us: Zuhayr ibn Muhammad al-Marwazī narrated to us: Sunayd ibn Dāwud reported to us, saying ⦗319⦘: Hajjāj narrated to me, saying: Ibn Jurayj said: Ziyād ibn Sad informed me, from Muhammad ibn Zayd ibn al-Muhājir, from Abū Saīd al-Maqburī, from Abū Hurayra, from the Prophet—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—who said, “You will surely follow the course of those before you, span by span, cubit by cubit, and armspan by armspan, so much so that if they entered a lizard’s burrow, you would enter it too.”
