Abū Nasr narrated to us, saying: Abū Bakr al-Marwazī narrated to us, saying: Ahmad ibn Hanbal narrated to us, saying: Abd al-Rahmān ibn Mahdī narrated to us, saying: Sufyān narrated to me, from Muhill ibn Khalīfa, who said: Ibrāhīm said to me, “If you are asked, ‘Are you a believer?’ say: ‘I believe in Allah, His angels, His Books, and His messengers.’” ⦗669⦘

He said: Ahmad also narrated to me, saying: Abd al-Rahmān ibn Mahdī narrated to us, saying: Sufyān narrated to me, from Maʿmar, from Ibn Tāwūs, from his father, reporting the same.
