270 — Jafar ibn Muhammad al-Sandalī narrated to us: al-Fadl ibn Ziyād narrated to us: Ahmad ibn Hanbal narrated to us: al-Walīd ibn Muslim narrated to us, saying: I heard al-Awzāī relate from al-Qāsim ibn Mukhaymira, regarding the words of Allah Most High:

“Then there came after them successors who neglected prayer and followed their desires, so they will meet with perdition.” [Maryam: 59]

He said, “They neglected its appointed times, but they did not abandon it altogether. Had they abandoned it, they would have become disbelievers by doing so.”
