260 — Abū Bakr ibn Abī Dāwūd narrated to us, saying: Alī ibn Khashram narrated to us, saying ⦗641⦘: Yahyā ibn Sulaym al-Tā’ifī narrated to us, from Hishām, from al-Hasan, who said, “Faith consists of profession and deeds.” Yahyā ibn Sulaym said: I asked Hishām, “And what do you say?” He replied, “Faith consists of profession and deeds.” Muhammad al-Tā’ifī used to say, “Faith consists of profession and deeds.”

Yahyā ibn Sulaym said: Mālik ibn Anas used to say, “Faith consists of profession and deeds.” Yahyā said: Sufyān ibn Uyaynah used to say, “Faith consists of profession and deeds.” He said: Fudayl ibn Iyād used to say, “Faith consists of profession and deeds.”
