257 — Abū Yaqūb Ishāq ibn Abī Hassān al-Anmātī narrated to us, saying: Hishām ibn Ammār al-Dimashqī narrated to us, saying: Shihāb ibn Khirāsh narrated to us, saying: Abd al-Karīm al-Jazarī narrated to me, from Alī ibn Abī Tālib and Abd Allah ibn Masūd (may Allah be pleased with them both), who said: “No profession is of benefit unless accompanied by deeds, and no deeds unless accompanied by profession; neither profession nor deeds are of benefit unless accompanied by intention, and no intention is of benefit unless it accords with the sunnah.
