245 — Abū al-ʿAbbās Ahmad ibn Mūsā ibn Zanjawayh al-Qattān informed us, saying: Ibrāhīm ibn al-Walīd al-Qurashī narrated to us, saying: Fudayk—that is, Ibn Sulaymān—narrated to us, saying: I heard al-Awzāʿī say, “Faith consists of speech and action; it increases and decreases. Whoever claims that faith increases but does not decrease—beware of him, for he is an innovator.”
