211 — Ibrāhīm ibn Mūsā al-Jawzī informed us, saying: Ahmad ibn ⦗579⦘ Manīʿ, Yaʿqūb al-Dawraqī, and Mujāhid ibn Mūsā—the wording is his—narrated to us, saying: Jarīr ibn ʿAbd al-Hamīd narrated to us, from Suhayl ibn Abī Sālih, from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Dīnār, from Abū Sālih, from Abū Hurayra, may Allah be pleased with him, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “Faith comprises sixty-odd, or seventy-odd, branches. The highest of them is to affirm that none is worthy of worship except Allah; the lowest is to remove something harmful from the road; and modesty is a branch of faith.”
