209 — Abu Jaʿfar Ahmad ibn Yahyā al-Hulwānī narrated to us, saying: Yahyā ibn ʿAbd al-Hamīd al-Hulmānī narrated to us, saying: Khālid—that is, al-Wāsitī—informed us, from Suhayl ibn Abī Sālih, from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Dīnār, from Abū Sālih, from Abū Hurayra, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “Faith comprises sixty-odd, or seventy-odd, ⦗577⦘ branches. The highest of them is to affirm that none is worthy of worship except Allah; the lowest is to remove something harmful from the road; and modesty is a branch of faith.”
