2072 — Abū al-Qāsim ‘Abd Allah ibn Muhammad ibn ‘Abd al-‘Azīz al-Baghawī narrated to us: Al-Hasan ibn al-Sabbāh narrated to us: Qāsim al-‘Umarī narrated to me, from ⦗2561⦘ ‘Abd al-Rahmān ibn Muhammad ibn Habīb ibn Abī Habīb, from his father, from his grandfather, who said: “I witnessed Khālid ibn ‘Abd Allah al-Qasrī delivering a sermon. When he finished his sermon—it was the Day of Sacrifice—he said, ‘Go back and offer your sacrifices; may Allah accept them from you. As for me, I am going to sacrifice al-Ja‘d ibn Dirham, for he claims that Allah Most High did not speak directly to Moses and did not take Abraham as an intimate friend. Glorified and Exalted is He, far above what al-Ja‘d ibn Dirham says!’ He then descended and slaughtered him.”
