2069 — Al-Firyābī then informed us: Hishām ibn Khālid al-Azraq narrated to us: Abū Mushir narrated to us, saying: ‘Awn ibn Hakīm narrated to me, saying: Al-Walīd ibn Sulaymān ibn Abī al-Sā’ib narrated to me that Rajā’ ibn Haywa wrote to Hishām ibn ‘Abd al-Malik: “Commander of the Faithful, I have heard that you have some misgivings concerning Ghaylān and Sālih. By Allah, killing those two would be better than killing two thousand Byzantines and Turks.”
Hishām ibn Khālid said: Sālih was a client of Thaqīf.
