Abū Sa‘īd Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Ziyād narrated to us, saying: Alī ibn Abd al-Azīz narrated to us, saying: Hajjāj narrated to us, saying: Hammād ibn Salama narrated to us, saying: Āsim ibn Bahdala narrated to us, from Zirr ibn Hubaysh, who reported that Alī (may Allah be pleased with him) was told, “The killer of al-Zubayr is at the door.” He replied, “The killer of Ibn Safiyya will surely enter the Fire. I heard the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) say: ‘Every prophet has a devoted disciple and supporter, and my devoted disciple and supporter is al-Zubayr.’”
