1988 — Ibrāhīm ibn al-Haytham al-Nāqid informed us, saying: Abū Maʿmar al-Qatīʿī ⦗2498⦘ narrated to us, saying: Ibn Numayr informed us, from Ismāʿīl ibn Ibrāhīm ibn Muhājir, from ʿAbd al-Malik ibn ʿUmayr, from ʿĀʾisha—may Allah be pleased with her—who said: “They were commanded to seek forgiveness for the Companions of Muhammad—peace and blessings of Allah be upon him—yet they reviled them. I heard the Messenger of Allah—peace and blessings of Allah be upon him—say: ‘The world will not pass away until the latter generations of this nation revile its earliest generations.’”
Muhammad ibn al-Husayn said: This has indeed appeared in many places throughout the lands of the world, where people curse the Companions of the Messenger of Allah—peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. This will never harm the Companions of the Messenger of Allah—peace and blessings of Allah be upon him; they harm only themselves. In this book, al-Sharīʿa, I have set forth their virtues—may Allah be pleased with them. Later, it will become clear what one who reviles, curses, and harms them deserves: the curse of Allah—Mighty and Majestic—His angels, and all humanity.
