1983—Abū Bakr Muhammad ibn al-Husayn ibn Shahrayār al-Balkhī also narrated to us, saying: Fadl ibn Ziyād narrated to us, saying: Muhammad ibn Hārūn al-Muqriʾ narrated to us, saying: Yazīd ibn Hārūn narrated to us, saying: al-Awwām ibn Hawshab narrated to us, from Amr ibn Murra, from Abū Wāʾil, who said: Amr ibn Shurahbīl, Abū Maysara—who was among the most eminent companions of Abd Allah ibn Masʿūd—had a vision. He said: “I saw as though I had entered Paradise, and there stood pavilions that had been pitched. I asked, ‘For whom are these?’ They replied, ‘For Dhū al-Kalāʿ and Hawshab.’ Both had been among those killed while fighting alongside Muʿāwiya—may Allah have mercy on him. I asked, ‘Where, then, is Ammār?’ They replied, ‘Ahead of you.’ I said, ‘Yet they killed one another!’ He replied, ‘They met Allah—Glorious and Exalted—and found Him boundless in forgiveness.’”
