1979—Abū Bakr Abd Allah ibn Muhammad ibn Abd al-Hamīd al-Wāsitī narrated to us, saying: Abd Allah ibn Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Hanbal narrated to us, saying: My father narrated to me, saying: Abū Muāwiya narrated to us, saying: A man narrated to us, from Mujāhid, from Ibn Abbās, who said ⦗2492⦘: “Do not revile the Companions of Muhammad—peace and blessings be upon him—for Allah—Mighty and Majestic—commanded us to seek forgiveness for them, though He knew that they would fight one another.”
