1961 — Ibn Nājiya also informed us, saying: Husayn ibn Mahdī al-Ubullī narrated to us, saying: ʿAbd al-Razzāq narrated to us, saying: Maʿmar informed us, from al-Zuhrī, who said:

When ʿAlī ibn Abī Tālib—may Allah be pleased with him—was killed and al-Hasan ibn ʿAlī—may Allah be pleased with them both—came to Muʿāwiya, ⦗2470⦘ Muʿāwiya said to him, “Even if your only distinction over Yazīd were that your mother was a woman of Quraysh whereas his mother was a woman of Kalb, you would still have an advantage over him. How much greater, then, when your mother is Fātima, daughter of the Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace!”
