1948 – Abū Muhammad ʿAbd Allah ibn Muhammad ibn Nājiya narrated to us, saying: Ahmad ibn Manīʿ narrated to us, saying: Ismāʿīl ibn ʿUlayya narrated to us.
1949 – Ibn Nājiya said: Abū al-Ashʿath Ahmad ibn al-Miqdām also narrated to us, saying: Yazīd ibn Zurayʿ narrated to us.
1950 – Ibn Nājiya said: Bundār also narrated to us, saying: Muhammad ibn Abī ʿAdī narrated to us. All three narrated from Habīb ibn al-Shahīd, from Abū Mijlaz, who said: Muʿāwiya—may Allah be pleased with him—came out while Ibn al-Zubayr and Ibn ʿĀmir were seated. One of them stood while the other remained seated—the latter, Ibn al-Zubayr, being the more distinguished of the two. Muʿāwiya said to the one who had stood, “Sit down, for I heard the Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—say: ‘Whoever likes men to stand in attendance before him, let him take for himself a house or a seat in the Fire.’”
