1947 – Ibn Nājiya also related to us, saying: Nasr ibn ʿAlī and ʿAmr ibn ʿĪsā al-Dubaʿī narrated to us, saying: ʿAbd al-Aʿlā al-Sāmī narrated to us, saying: Saʿīd al-Jurayrī narrated to us, from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Burayda, that Muʿāwiya—may Allah be pleased with him—came upon a group of people remembering Allah, Mighty and Majestic. ⦗2462⦘ He said:
“I shall give you the same glad tidings that the Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—gave to people like you. You will not find anyone whose standing with the Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—was comparable to mine who related fewer hadith from him than I did. I was his brother-in-law, I assisted him with his correspondence, and I would prepare his mount for him. The Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—said to a group who were remembering Allah, Mighty and Majestic: ‘Indeed, Allah, Blessed and Exalted, boasts of you before the angels.’”
