1942 – Ibn Nājiya informed us, saying: Abd Allah ibn Umar ibn Abān ibn Sālih, Abū Abd al-Rahmān al-Kūfī, narrated to us, saying: Abd Allah al-Makkī—that is, Ibn Rajā al-Makkī—narrated to us, saying: Uthmān ibn al-Aswad narrated to us, from Ibn Abī Mulayka, that Muāwiya—may Allah be pleased with him—performed the night prayer and then prayed one unit as Witr. He said: “I mentioned this to Ibn Abbās, and he replied: ‘Muāwiya had indeed accompanied the Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace.’”
