1908 — Abū Bakr Abd Allah ibn Muhammad ibn Abd al-Hamīd al-Wāsitī narrated to us: Abd al-Wahhāb al-Warrāq narrated to us: Abū Muāwiya narrated to us, from Hishām ibn Urwa, from his father, from Aisha—may Allah be pleased with her—that she was mentioned in the presence of a man, and he reviled her—the pure and intelligent woman. He was asked, “Is she not your mother?” He replied, “She is no mother of mine.” When this reached her, she said, “He spoke the truth. I am the Mother of the Believers; as for the unbelievers, I am not their mother.”
