Muhammad ibn al-Husayn—may Allah Most High have mercy on him—said: Thus Allah—Majestic is His glory—admonished the believers with a powerful admonition. Then Allah—Majestic is His glory—said:
“Indeed, those who fabricated the slander are a group among you. Do not think it evil for you; rather, it is good for you. Each of them will bear the sin he earned, and whoever among them took the leading part in it will suffer a tremendous punishment.”
Allah—Majestic is His glory—thus informed us that Aisha—may Allah be pleased with her—was not harmed by the lies of those who accused her. It was not evil for her; rather, it was good for her and evil for those who accused her—namely, Abd Allah ibn Ubayy ibn Salūl and his fellow hypocrites. Although it caused her deep anguish and distress, and although the Prophet—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—was hurt and grieved when his wife was spoken of in this way—for he was bound to her and her father by love and honor—all of this raised him in rank before Allah—Majestic is His glory. Then Allah—Majestic is His glory—sent down recited revelation declaring her innocence. Through it, Allah the Generous gladdened the heart of His Messenger—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—as well as the hearts of Aisha, her father, her family, and all the believers, while bringing bitter grief to the hypocrites. May Allah be pleased with her, her father, all the Companions, and every member of the purified Household.
