1901 — Abū Jafar Ahmad ibn Yahyā al-Hulwānī narrated to us: Bishr ibn al-Walīd al-Qādī narrated to us: Abū Hafs Umar ibn Abd al-Rahmān narrated to us, from Sulaymān al-Shaybānī, from Alī ibn Zayd ibn Judān, from his grandmother, from Aisha—may Allah be pleased with her—that she said:

“I was indeed granted nine distinctions that no woman after Mary, daughter of Imrān, was granted. Gabriel—peace be upon him—descended with my likeness in the palm of his hand, whereupon the Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—was commanded to marry me. He married me while I was a virgin, and he married no other virgin besides me. He—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—passed away with his head in my lap, and I buried him in my chamber. The angels surrounded my chamber. Revelation would descend upon him while he was among his household, and they would withdraw from him; yet it would also descend upon him while I was with him beneath his blanket. I am the daughter of his successor and his utterly truthful companion. My vindication descended from heaven. I was created pure and placed with one who was pure, and I was promised forgiveness and a noble provision.”
