receive mercy” [al-A‘rāf: 204]. He thus informed us that the listener hears the Quran itself; He did not say, “a representation of the Quran.”

Allah Most High said: “Surely this Quran guides to that which is most upright” [al-Isrā’: 9].

Allah Most High also said: “And when We directed a group of jinn toward you to listen to the Quran, they said upon entering its presence, ‘Listen attentively!’ Then, when it was concluded, they returned to their people as warners. They said, ‘O our people! We have heard a Book revealed after Moses, confirming what came before it. It guides to the truth and to a straight path’” [al-Ahqāf: 30].

Allah Most High also said: “Say: It has been revealed to me that a group of jinn listened and said, ‘We have heard a wondrous Quran that guides to right conduct, so we have believed in it’” [al-Jinn: 1]. He did not say that they listened to a representation of the Quran, nor did the jinn say, “We have heard a representation of the Quran,” as claimed by one who introduced a misguided innovation and opposed the Book, the sunnah, and the position of the believers.

Allah Most High said: “So recite whatever is easy for you of the Quran.” Muhammad ibn al-Husayn said: This occurs frequently in the Quran for anyone who reflects upon it.
