1899 – Ibn ʿAbd al-Hamīd also narrated to us, saying: Abū Mūsā al-Zamin narrated to us, saying: Abū Usāma narrated to me, from Hishām ibn ʿUrwa, from his father, who said: “I never sat in the company of anyone more knowledgeable than Aisha—may Allah be pleased with her—about the hadith of the Messenger of Allah—peace and blessings be upon him—legal judgments, accounts from the pre-Islamic period, religious ordinances, or medicine, nor anyone better versed in poetry. I asked, ‘Aunt, where did you learn medicine?’ She replied, ‘I used to hear people prescribing remedies for one another, and I memorized them.’”
