1882 — Abū Ahmad Hārūn ibn Yūsuf narrated to us: Ibn Abī Umar—meaning Muhammad al-Adanī—narrated to us: al-Hasan ibn Alī narrated to us: Yaqub ibn Ibrāhīm narrated to us: My father narrated to me, from Sālih ibn Kaysān, from Ibn Shihāb, who said: Muhammad ibn Abd al-Rahmān ibn al-Hārith ibn Hishām informed me that Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) ⦗2402⦘ said:

“The wives of the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) sent Fātima, the daughter of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace)—may Allah be pleased with her—to the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace). She sought permission to enter while he was reclining beneath my mantle, and he admitted her. She said, ‘O Messenger of Allah, your wives have sent me to ask you to treat them fairly regarding the daughter of Abū Quhāfa.’ I remained silent. The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said to her, ‘My dear daughter, do you not love the one I love?’ She replied, ‘Indeed I do.’ He said, ‘Then love this woman.’

“When Fātima (may Allah be pleased with her) heard this from the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace), she arose and returned to the Prophet’s wives. She told them what she had said to the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) and what the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) had said to her.”
