1868 — Abū Abd Allah Muhammad ibn Makhlad al-Attār also narrated to us, saying: Saīd ibn Uthmān al-Khayyāt narrated to us, saying: I heard Ishāq ibn al-Bahlūl say: Ibn Abī Fudayk narrated to us, saying: Amr ibn Uthmān ibn Hāni narrated to me, from al-Qāsim, who said: I went in to see Aisha—may Allah be pleased with her—and said, “Mother, uncover for me the grave of the Prophet—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—and those of his two Companions.” She uncovered three graves for me. They were neither raised high nor flush with the ground, but were covered with the red pebbles of the courtyard. He said: I saw the grave of the Prophet—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—positioned foremost, with Abū Bakr—may Allah be pleased with him—at his head and his feet between the shoulders of the Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—and Umar—may Allah be pleased with him—at the feet of the Prophet—may Allah bless him and grant him peace. Ibn Abī Fudayk sketched the graves’ outlines in Ibn Makhlad’s book, just as I shall sketch them, Allah Most High willing.
