Al-Shariah li-al-AjurriAl-Ajurri

191 — Jaʿfar ibn Muhammad al-Sandalī narrated to us: al-Fadl ibn Ziyād narrated to us: Abū Tālib narrated to us: I asked Abū ʿAbd Allāh about someone who suspended judgment, saying, “I will not say that it is uncreated. If he encounters me on the road and greets me, should I return his greeting?” He replied, “Do not greet him or speak to him. How will people know him if you greet him? And how will he know that you disapprove of him? If you do not greet him, he will feel the humiliation, know that you have condemned him, and the people will know him.”
