1867 — Abū Bakr ibn Abī Dāwūd al-Sijistānī narrated to us, saying: Ahmad ibn Sālih al-Misrī narrated to us, saying: Muhammad ibn Ismāil ibn Abī Fudayk narrated to us, saying: Amr ibn Uthmān ibn Hāni informed me, from al-Qāsim, who said: I went in to see Aisha—may Allah Most High have mercy on her—and said, “Mother, uncover the grave of the Prophet—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—for me.” She uncovered three graves for me. They were neither raised high nor flush with the ground, but were covered with the red pebbles of the courtyard. He said: I saw the Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—positioned foremost, Abū Bakr at his head, and Umar at the feet of the Prophet—may Allah bless him and grant him peace.
He said: Amr described their graves to me just as al-Qāsim had described them to him, and Ahmad ibn Sālih depicted them in this arrangement.
