1856 — Umar ibn Ayyūb al-Saqatī also narrated to us. He said: Al-Hasan ibn Arafa narrated to us. He said: Muhammad ibn Fudayl narrated to us, from Sālim ibn Abī Hafsa, who said: I asked Abū Jafar Muhammad ibn Alī and Jafar ibn Muhammad—may Allah be pleased with them both—about Abū Bakr and Umar—may Allah be pleased with them. They replied, “O Sālim, be loyal to them both and disavow their enemies, for they were two rightly guiding leaders.”
Ibn Fudayl said: Sālim said: Jafar ibn Muhammad said to me, “O Sālim, would a man revile his own grandfather? Abū Bakr—may Allah have mercy on him—is my grandfather. May the intercession of Muhammad—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—not reach me if I do not remain loyal to them both and disavow their enemies.”
