1847 — Abū Ja‘far Ahmad ibn Yahyā al-Hulwānī narrated to us, saying: Bishr ibn al-Walīd the judge narrated to us, saying: Abū Hafs ‘Umar ibn ‘Abd al-Rahmān narrated to us, from Sulaymān al-Shaybānī, from ‘Alī ibn Zayd ibn Jud‘ān, from his grandmother, from ‘Ā’isha—may Allah be pleased with her—who said:
“I was indeed granted nine distinctions that no woman after Mary, daughter of ‘Imrān, was granted. Indeed, ⦗2367⦘ Gabriel—peace be upon him—descended bearing my likeness in the palm of his hand, until the Messenger of Allah—peace and blessings be upon him—was commanded to marry me. He married me while I was a virgin, and he married no other virgin. He—peace and blessings be upon him—was taken in death while his head rested in my lap, and I buried him in my house. The angels surrounded my house. Whenever revelation descended upon him while he was among his household, they would withdraw from him; yet it would descend upon him while I was there with him beneath his coverlet. I am the daughter of his successor and his faithful friend. My vindication was sent down from heaven. I was created pure and joined to one who is pure. And I was promised forgiveness and an honorable provision.”
