Know, O Muslims, that the Prophet—peace and blessings be upon him—knew that he would die. He also knew that he would be buried in his home, the home of Aisha—may Allah be pleased with her—and that Abū Bakr and Umar—may Allah be pleased with them both—would be buried alongside him. The evidence for this is his statement—peace and blessings be upon him: “Between my grave and my pulpit lies a garden from the gardens of Paradise”; his statement—peace and blessings be upon him: “Between Aisha’s home and my pulpit lies a garden from the gardens of Paradise”; and his statement—peace and blessings be upon him: “Allah—Blessed and Exalted—has never caused a prophet to die except that he was buried where he died.”
This indicates that he—peace and blessings be upon him—knew that he would be buried in Aisha’s home—may Allah be pleased with her. Reports will follow which show that, before his death, the Prophet—peace and blessings be upon him—knew that he would be buried in his home, the home of Aisha—may Allah be pleased with her—and that Abū Bakr and Umar—may Allah be pleased with them both—would be buried alongside him. The Prophet—peace and blessings be upon him—will be the first for whom the earth is split open, followed by Abū Bakr and then Umar—may Allah be pleased with them both.
