1827 — Abū Jaʿfar Muhammad ibn Khālid al-Bardhaʿī narrated to us in the Sacred Mosque. He said: Muhammad ibn Sulaymān, the grandson of Matar al-Warrāq through his daughter, narrated to us. He said: Abū Qatan narrated to us, from Shuʿba, from Abū Awn, from Muhammad ibn Hātib, who said:

Ali—may Allah be pleased with him—was asked about Uthmān—may Allah be pleased with him. He replied, “He was among those who believed, then feared Allah and believed.”
