1824 — Abū Saīd Ahmad ibn Muhammad al-Arābī narrated to us. He said: Ibrāhīm ibn Qahd narrated to us. He said: Muhammad ibn Khālid al-Wāsitī narrated to us. He said: Sharīk narrated to us, from Abū Bakr al-Hudhalī, from al-Hasan, who said: Ali—may Allah be pleased with him—said, “The Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—put Abū Bakr—may Allah be pleased with him—forward to lead the people in prayer, though he knew where I was. I was neither absent nor ill. Had he wished to put me forward, he would have done so. We therefore accepted for our worldly affairs the man whom the Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—had accepted for our religion.”
