1809 — Al-Firyābī also narrated to us. He said: Muhammad ibn al-Muthannā and Muhammad ibn Bashshār narrated to us. They both said: Abd al-Rahmān ibn Mahdī narrated to us. He said: Sufyān al-Thawrī narrated to us, from Jāmi ibn Abī Rāshid, from Abū Yalā Mundhir al-Thawrī, from Ibn al-Hanafiyya—may Allah be pleased with him—who said: I asked, “Father, who is the best of people after the Messenger of Allah—may Allah’s blessings and peace be upon him?” He replied, “Abū Bakr.” I asked, “Then who?” He replied, “Then Umar.”
