1799 — And Abū Bakr ibn Abī Dāwūd narrated to us: al-Musayyib ibn Wādih al-Sulamī narrated to us: Sufyān ibn Uyayna narrated to us, from Firās, from al-Shabī, from al-Hārith, from Alī—may Allah be pleased with him—who said:
“I was with the Messenger of Allah—peace and blessings be upon him—when Abū Bakr and Umar—may Allah be pleased with them both—approached. He said, ‘O Alī, these two are the leaders of the mature men among the people of Paradise, from the earliest to the latest, except for the prophets and messengers. Do not tell them, O Alī.’”
He said: I did not tell them until they had both passed away.
