1796 — Abū al-Abbās Ahmad ibn Sahl al-Ushnānī also narrated to us, saying: Al-Rabī ibn Thalab narrated to us, saying: Ismāīl ibn Ulayya narrated to us.
1797 — Abū Bakr Abd Allah ibn Muhammad ibn Abd al-Hamīd al-Wāsitī also narrated to me, saying: Ziyād ibn Ayyūb al-Tūsī narrated to us, saying: Ismāīl ibn Ulayya narrated to us, from Humayd al-Tawīl, who said: Anas ibn Mālik said: “They claimed that love for Uthmān and Alī—may Allah be pleased with them both—cannot coexist in a believer’s heart. They lied! Praise be to Allah, Allah Almighty has united love for them both in our hearts.”
Muhammad ibn al-Husayn—may Allah have mercy on him—said: It is also related that Ayyūb al-Sakhtiyānī said: “Whoever loves Abū Bakr has upheld the religion; whoever loves Umar has made the path clear; whoever loves Uthmān has been illumined by the light of Allah Almighty; whoever loves Alī has grasped the firmest handhold; and whoever speaks well of the Companions of Muhammad ﷺ is free of hypocrisy.”
