1792 — Abū Bakr Qāsim ibn Zakariyyā al-Mutarriz narrated to us: Hamawayh ibn ⦗2308⦘ Ishāq al-Marwazī narrated to us: al-Fadl ibn Mūsā al-Sīnānī narrated to us: Muhammad ibn Amr narrated to us, from Abū Salama ibn Abd al-Rahmān ibn Awf, who said: The Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—said to the people of Yemen, “I shall certainly send you a man who acts in accordance with the Book of Allah, Mighty and Majestic, and the Sunnah of His Prophet.” Umar ibn al-Khattāb—may Allah be pleased with him—said, “I had never desired leadership before that day. I stood tall, hoping that I would be that man.” He then instructed Abū Ubayda ibn al-Jarrāh, who set out to them.
