He made room for him at his side, whereupon Saʿīd said: “I testify that I heard Abū Bakr—may Allah be pleased with him—say to the Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—‘If only I could see a man who is among the people of Paradise.’ He replied, ‘I am among the people of Paradise.’ Abū Bakr said, ‘I was not asking about you; I already know that you are among the people of Paradise.’ He then said, ‘I am among the people of Paradise; you are among the people of Paradise; ʿUmar is among the people of Paradise; ʿUthmān is among the people of Paradise; ʿAlī is among the people of Paradise; Talha is among the people of Paradise; al-Zubayr is among the people of Paradise; Saʿd is among the people of Paradise; and ʿAbd al-Rahmān is among the people of Paradise.
