1780 — Abū Jaʿfar Muhammad ibn Sālih ibn Dhurayh al-ʿUkbarī narrated to us, saying: Abū Bakr ibn Abī Shayba narrated to us, saying: Abū al-Ahwas narrated to us, from al-Husayn, from Hilāl ibn Yasāf, from ʿAbd Allah ibn Zālim, from Saʿīd ibn Zayd, who said: “I testify that the nine are in Paradise; and were I to testify concerning the tenth, I would be speaking the truth.” He said: I asked, “How is that?” He replied: “The Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—was on Mount Hirāʾ together with Abū Bakr, ʿUmar, ʿUthmān, ʿAlī, Talha, al-Zubayr, Saʿd, and ʿAbd al-Rahmān ibn ʿAwf. The Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—said, ‘Stand firm, Hirāʾ, for upon you there is none but a prophet, a steadfast affirmer of truth, or a martyr.’” He said: I asked, “Who is the tenth?” He replied, “I am”—meaning Saʿīd ibn Zayd ibn ʿAmr ibn Nufayl.
