1767 — Abū Bakr ibn Abī Dāwud narrated to us, saying: Amr ibn Alī narrated to us, saying: Ubayd Allah ibn Abd al-Rahmān narrated to us, saying: Amr ibn Yahyā ibn ⦗2284⦘ Saīd ibn Amr ibn Saīd ibn al-Ās informed us, from his grandfather Saīd ibn Amr, who said: Jābir ibn Abdullāh said: I heard the Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—say: “Quraysh are the best of mankind. Quraysh are like salt: can food be wholesome without it? And Quraysh are like the backbone: can a man walk without a backbone?”
١٧٦٧ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي دَاوُدَ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ قَالَ: أَنْبَأَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ ⦗٢٢٨٤⦘ سَعِيدِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْعَاصِ , عَنْ جَدِّهِ سَعِيدِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو , وَقَالَ: قَالَ جَابِرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ: «قُرَيْشٌ خِيَارُ النَّاسِ , وَقُرَيْشٌ كَالْمِلْحِ , هَلْ يَطِيِبُ الطَّعَامُ إِلَّا بِهِ , وَقُرَيْشٌ كَالصُّلْبِ , هَلْ يَمْشِي الرَّجُلُ بِغَيْرِ صُلْبٍ»
