1763 — Ibn Abī Dāwūd also narrated to us, saying: Ayyūb ibn Muhammad al-Wazzān narrated to us, saying: Marwān narrated to us, saying: Yahyā ibn Abī Kathīr narrated to us, from Sālih ibn Khabbāb al-Fazārī, from Abd Allah ibn Shaddād ibn al-Hād, who said: Al-Abbās ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with him) said, “O Messenger of Allah, why is it that when members of Quraysh meet one another, their faces nearly overflow with affection, yet they meet us with scowling faces?” The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said, “Uncle, do they really do that?” He replied, “Yes, by Him who sent you as a prophet with the truth.” He said, “Indeed, by Him who sent me with the truth, they will not believe until they love you.”
