1762 — Abū Bakr ibn Abī Dāwūd also narrated to us, saying: Muhammad ibn Bashshār narrated to us, saying: Yazīd—that is, Ibn Hārūn—narrated to us, from Ismāīl—that is, Ibn Abī Khālid—from Yazīd ibn Abī Ziyād, from Abd Allah ibn al-Hārith, from al-Abbās ibn Abd al-Muttalib, who said: I said, “O Messenger of Allah, when members of Quraysh meet one another, they greet each other with cheerful faces; but when ⦗2279⦘ they meet us, they greet us with faces we do not recognize.” The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) became intensely angry and said, “By Him in whose hand is Muhammad’s soul, faith will not enter a man’s heart until he loves you for the sake of Allah and His Messenger.”
